On 25 July 2025, the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, conducted a working visit to the Infrastructure Development Project to Support the Five (5) Paddy Planting Seasons within Two (2) Years Programme in the Muda area, located at Kampung Kemboja, Mukim Jerlun, Ayer Hitam.

During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed in detail on the implementation and progress of the project by Encik Zulkifli Romli, General Manager of MADA and YBhg Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Director of MMC Infra Padi.

Implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach, the project focuses on upgrading irrigation and drainage systems as well as incorporating modern technology in the paddy planting sector. With a target of five planting seasons within two years, the infrastructure project is expected to reduce the country’s reliance on imported rice and improve its Self-Sufficiency Level (SSL). The project comprises two main components: the construction of 15 Tertiary Irrigation System Blocks and the Comprehensive Rehabilitation of the Pedu Dam (Phase 1).
