Prai Swing Bridge

The swing bridge over the River Prai in Malaysia was designed and constructed by MMC-Gamuda JV and provides rail access between the Butterworth and Prai sections of the Penang Port.

  • DESCRIPTION OF PROJECTS

    The Prai Swing Bridge steel structure has a total length of 90m (2 x 45m cantilevers from the central axis of rotation) and is supported on a central steel pier that incorporates the main pivot shaft with a diameter of 2000mm and a height of 5m. The bridge is operated by electro-hydraulic, consisting of the center pivot, one(1) lifting cylinder, four(4) turning cylinders, four (4) bridge locking cylinders and four(4) rail locking cylinders serve to slew and lock the new Prai Swing Bridge together with the rail locks.
