With the commencement of the construction works for the Pengerang Cogeneration Plant Project at Petronas RAPID site in Pengerang Kota Tinggi, MMC Engineering Services Sdn Bhd has actively engaged in establishing close relationships with the local community. Among the efforts taken is to collaborate and cooperate with Kolej Komuniti Bandar Penawar, located about 30km from the project site.

Kolej Komunti is an institution under Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia that was established with the main objective of providing skills training for youths after their secondary education. KKBP conducts 4 types of courses at Certificate level. One of these is the Sijil Penyelenggaraan Bangunan (Certificate of Building Maintenance).

On the 13th to 15th of November, MMCES jointly participated with KKBP in a Corporate Social Responsibility programme to carry out community work at 3 different locations. They are :

a) Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Islam Kota Tinggi (painting of wall mural)
b) Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Jauhar, Kota Tinggi (minor maintenance work, repair to futsal court)
c) Balai Raya Kg Lukut, Kota Tinggi (minor maintenance work, painting of interior wall)

The community work primarily involve minor repair and maintenance work such as painting, repair of toilet doors, repair to electrical wiring and servicing of air-conditioners. The works were carried out by students of the SPB course, under supervision of their lecturers. This CSR programme therefore, has the dual advantage of providing benefit to the local community while allowing the students to gain first hand experience in carrying out repair and maintenance work.

MMCES is privileged to have assisted Kolej Komuniti Bandar Penawar in this effort. We look forward to further collaboration in the near future.
